Applications

Applications allows packaging various resources, such as alerts, dashboards, or models, as well as server and device configuration, for further distribution between Iotellect servers or via the Iotellect store. This is useful for delivering your applications to end customer servers and enabling team development across IT landscapes, such as dev, test, release candidate, or production. Applications also simplify change management through integration with a Version Control System (such as Git).

An Application can be exported as a Iotellect Server plugin. Once such a plugin is installed on another server, resources provided by it can be managed like any other resources included into Iotellect and derived out-of-the-box solutions.

Application configuration and resources can be also exported to and imported from a disk folder synchronized with a Version Control System. This folder can be committed to a source code repository for versioning and change management.

Every user has their own set of applications. When new applications are installed from an external source, they are by default owned by the current user. However, a default owner can be specified via Edit Driver/Plugin Properties action of the Application plugin's Driver/Plugin Configuration.

• Default Application Owner: Indicate the default owner to be used when creating new applications.

The general Applications context, serves as a container for the individual Application contexts. Each individual Application context holds the information for a single Application.

Each Application can be Packaged as a Plugin or Folder, as well as Installed, Deployed, Updated or Removed via its Application context.
