In case you have Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.4, you might receive an installer package error. The update of RHEL 7.4 includes the package stix-fonts. When this update is installed, the default font changed from utopia to stix. Java’s default fonts are also mapped to stix, including the sans-serif font family. Linux fontconfig is designed to locate fonts within the system and select them according to requirements specified by applications. Therefore, Linux doesn’t recognize the sans-serif font and an Exception is thrown.

To fix this installation package error, it’s necessary to upgrade JDK to the version 1.8.192 or above. In case you can’t upgrade your JDK, you can also install the dejavu-serif font to fix this issue. Install this font by using the following script:

yum install dejavu-serif-fonts
