SNMP Notifications Monitoring
![]() | SNMP notifications are asynchronous notifications sent from SNMP agent to manager. |
There are two types of notification requests defined by SNMP standards: Trap requests and Inform requests. Both types of notification requests are supported by Iotellect Network Manager.
SNMP notifications monitoring is controlled by global configuration options of SNMP driver. Listening for notifications is enabled by turning on Receive SNMP Notifications option. If this option is enabled, Iotellect Server listens for SNMP notifications on the specified port (see SNMP Notifications Listening Port). Notifications will be received from any SNMP device either via UDP or TCP protocol depending on the SNMP Notifications Transport Protocol. For SNMP version 3 secure notifications the specified Local Engine ID will be used.
SNMP driver may receive SNMP notifications from SNMP agents and converts them to context events as described here. Record associated with the Iotellect event presents notification's properties.
SNMP notification event's data can be used to monitor important events on your network, analyze them and react accordingly.
